The Fiji Meteorological Services has set up a new media centre in their Nadi Office to improve information dissemination.

Director, Ravin Kumar, says the centre will ensure that weather warnings are provided in a timely manner.

Kumar says the new centre will also enable them to deliver consistent information or weather warnings.

“So if there is a time of emergency we need to, cross live or do a live streaming we should be able to do so, so this work is in progress and by the end of this year we should have the facility to go ahead.”

Kumar says they will also train their forecasters to become weather broadcasters.
