250 new jobs will be created during the construction phase of the proposed 5 star resort Holiday Inn at Denarau, Nadi.
The property management agreement for the proposed resort was signed yesterday between the parent company InterContinental Group of Hotels and local based property developer Avoser Limited.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya says 180 Fijians will be employed by InterContinetal group when the resort opens for business.
Koya says the 5 star hotel brand will also feature a high end commercial and retail centre.
“As Fiji is venturing into new markets, such as Asia, it is important that we are able to offer more than a beautiful destination and shopping is an important part of any holiday package. Whilst, we provide the best and friendliest services, we need to ensure we are able to cater to our markets needs in terms of extra activities especially high end shopping.”
Koya says such development assist government in achieving it’s goal of increasing visitor arrivals.
