Moving into a new home is a dream come true for a thirty-one-year-old man from Kalabu, Nasinu who has been living with spinal injury for the past fourteen years.
The struggle was real for Sekonaia Kotobalavu who previously lived in Wailea squatter settlement, which is prone to flooding.
Sekonaia Kotobalavu says he will no longer have sleepless nights with a new roof over his head. It was made possible by the Viti Spinal Injuries Association.
“Now am sitting in my new house, I really overwhelmed and over the moon right now and there is no word to explain how joyful I am and also my parents and today the day for me that will never forget for the rest of my life. It’s a memorable day and the day I can say that I had been rescued.”
The new home is the first project of its kind for the Association which focuses its effort to renovate homes which are disability friendly.
The project cost around twenty-four thousand dollars.
