In order to provide better health services, the Ministry of Health expects to open new medical facilities in the Suva-Nausori Corridor.

Minister for Health Rosy Akbar says the new facilities will include the opening of a new maternity unit in Makoi and Naulu Health Centre in Nakasi

“The Ministry also strategizes to modernise the health system and generate multiple benefits in terms of enhancing patient care and staff role."

Akbar added that the Makoi Maternity Unit will have 18 in-patient beds and three delivery rooms.

Meanwhile in an effort to ensure better services in the more populated areas, Akbar announced yesterday that the Valelevu Health Centre will now operate 24 hours, 7 days a week.
