Pilots will no longer have to travel overseas for training as Fiji Airways will be getting two full flight simulators.
Chief Executive, Andre Viljoen, says currently they have to send pilots overseas to get the best training which is very costly.
“Every time we see our pilots need training, we have to send them overseas and with a small air line and a small volume, we don’t get the best times and some of our pilots end up doing their training in the middle of the night and lose days of productivity. So the big plus of having this simulator in Nadi is because we can walk across the road and develop our people and train them and keep improving them. That is what training is all about.”
This project is costing the airline more than one hundred million dollars.
Viljoen says the simulators will be installed next year.
