New export opportunities for Kava and Breadfruit

The Ministry of Agriculture has identified new export opportunities for Fiji kava and breadfruit in the US market.

Permanent Secretary for Agriculture Uraia Waibuta revealed this after their recent visit to the US.

Waibuta has challenged Kava farmers around the country to work hard and meet the increasing demand of Kava in the US.

“We should be thankful because this are opportunities for our farmers here in Fiji on how we can meet this particular demand in the US markets so the bottom line is farmers to get organized and produce the product that is required in whichever markets”

Waibuta also confirms that discussions are already underway for the opening of new export markets for Breadfruit.

He says it is the Ministry’s role to being in opportunities like this and the onus is on farmers to work hard and meet the demand from overseas markets.
