A substantive Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations portfolio is expected to be announced soon.
FBC News understands that the position will be filled by a sitting MP who does not have a portfolio.
This gives government NINE MPs to choose from.
The ministerial position was held by Jioji Konrote who resigned last week prior to his formal nomination and subsequent appointment as the President elect.
Meanwhile, the next candidate to take up the parliamentary seat left empty by Konrote is Matai Akauola.
Akauola told FBC News he has not received any communication yet from the Electoral Commission.
