New diabetes eye clinic for Fiji

Fiji’s first diabetic eye clinic was opened in Suva today.

Permanent Secretary for Health – Dr Eloni Tora says this will bring hope to the diabetic patients.

“It has brought immense impacts and advantages to Fiji particularly in eye health care services. We are blessed with high technology and trained staff and the potential to look after people with diabetes related vision impairment.”

He says patients will be treated for free.

The funding was provided by the Australian and the New Zealand government.
