The government has reiterated its plans to construct a new dam in Sabeto to complement the Vaturu dam in light of the rapid growth of Nadi and Lautoka.

Minister for Infrastructure Parveen Kumar says Government recognises the pace of growth in the two western hubs and will ensure that infrastructure developments are in place to cater for the rising demand of water.

Kumar highlighted this during a visit to the Nagado Water treatment plant and the Vaturu dam on the highlands of Nadi to see first-hand the current structure and the new developments that have been proposed by the Water Authority of Fiji.

He says the government is aware of the demand in water services in the Nadi – Lautoka corridor.

Kumar was accompanied by the Water Authority board.
