It was a joyous day for those living in Vakabuli Paipai, Lautoka as a new crossing was officially opened today.
During the opening, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the crossing will benefit 150 households in the area.
Bainimarama says in the past, people were worried when there was heavy rain, as the crossing would get flooded making it dangerous to cross.
He says this will be no more.
“It stands over 1.5m higher than the previous structure and is fortified by concrete and designed to withstand the elements. This is an infrastructural achievement that will continue to benefit your communities for many years to come.”
