President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau while opening parliament yesterday reminded the elected leader that their lives are once of service.

“Those of us in public life must lead by example and especially when you are elected to Parliament. The people have put their trust in you to represent their interests, and while you have a responsibility to your political goal, you have a greater responsibility to the nation as a whole.”

Ratu Epeli also reflected that this would be his last opportunity as President to address Parliament adding that it’s a great privilege and honour to serve the nation.
