The Reserve Bank of Fiji will issue new two dollar coin that will replace the current two dollar coin from November third.

This change is in response to public calls regarding the difficulty experienced in differentiating the current one dollar and the two dollar coins.

Governor Barry Whiteside says the new two dollars coin will be slightly larger and thicker than the existing one and two dollar coins.

It will have a new edge that will also serve as a differentiating feature for the visually impaired.

Designs on both sides of the coin remain unchanged but have been raised slightly and made more prominent.

The current 2 dollar coin will be in circulation up till the 31st December, after which the coin will need to be exchanged at the Reserve Bank.
