Negotiations on DTA begins

Fiji will soon begin talks with the Government of the United Arab on Double Tax Agreement.

The talks will focus on the conclusion of an Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion (the Agreement) with respect to taxes on Income.

The Tax Agreement is expected to encourage economic cooperation between the two countries.

Fiji Revenue and Customs chief executive – Jitoko Tikolevu says the agreement with UAE will provide opportunities on new investment that will create the much needed employment fort Fiji.

Cabinet has approved the commencement of negotiations between the two countries in April.

The first round of negotiations will take place in Abu Dhabi from the 24th to the 30th July.
