NDP hears of need to use vacant lands

The need to make use of vacant lands was raised at a National Development Planning Consultation Meeting in Dreketi this week.

Head teacher of Valelawa Primary School, Jagendra Prasad informed the NDP team that Government should look into parcels of land that are being left idle.

Prasad says he is from Nasarawaqa in Bua and he has seen that there is a lot of vacant land in the province.

He adds that it is a suggestion and humble request to use the idle lands as the government is working towards increasing productivity in the agriculture sector.

Divisional Planning Officer Northern Alipate Bolalevu says they would take note of their request and he is glad that the people in the North are committed are improving the agriculture sector.

Consultations are being held around the country as the government sets about developing five year and twenty year development plans.
