The National Disaster Management Office is looking at working closely with the people to better prepare them for TC Mona.

Director, Anare Leweniqila says an area of concern for them is that people usually disregard the instructions.

Leweniqila says many Fijians do not take heed of advisories which has resulted in major mishaps.

“That’s why we are activating Emergency Operations and also look at the current track that is being proposed and work with Divisional Commissioners in terms of the activation of the Operation at all the divisions and at district level and is something that we will discuss after meeting with our emergency operators and something we will work towards in terms of providing advisories on the area of activation in these Emergency Operation Centre”

The NDMO has activated its Emergency Operations Centre throughout all four divisions.
