NDC hub to be established in Suva

November 10, 2017 7:26 pm

Pacific Island Countries are now working with GIZ and the National Determined Contributions (NDC) partnership to establish a regional hub in Suva.

Climate Change Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says it’s critical to do this as Fiji and other small island states need to have the level of collaboration and integration to be able to meet the NDC targets.

The actions and ambitions provided in each country’s national determined contribution (NDC) provide a strong measure of whether the world will achieve the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement.

“A regional post to NDC development will enable us to work together in addressing common challenges pursuing renewable energy and enhancing effective regional approaches adaptation.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says the regional NDC hub will contribute in enhancing the Pacific Island developing states ability to implement the Paris Agreement and 2030 agenda to improve access to finance, low-carbon investments and debt management initiatives.
