The National Council of Persons with Disability has welcomed the Fijian Elections Office decision to allow its members to choose a person to assist them in marking their ballot inside the polling station on Election Day and for pre-polls.

Executive Director, Dr Sitiveni Yanuyanutawa says they’ve been meeting with the FEO regularly over the past two years to discuss issues concerning persons with disabilities.

“One of the major outcome was to get assistance for voting for persons with disabilities and we are glad that the Supervisor of Elections and the Fijian Elections Office was able to accommodate our request.”
