Nawaikula not attending SODELPA’s AGM

June 26, 2019 12:40 pm

Senior SODELPA and Opposition MP Niko Nawaikula will not be considered for any of the vacant leadership positions within the party.

This comes after Nawaikula exclusively revealed to FBC News that he will not attend the party’s Annual General Meeting this Friday.

“I will not be there but I know those are pertinent issues because I will have to miss this AGM because I will have to go with the Speaker overseas.”

According to the Party constitution, those nominated for office bearers have to be physically present during the AGM but Nawaikula remains hopeful.

“If the opportunity comes I will discuss it and if it is in the nature that it will move things forward and unite the member then I will accept it”

Meanwhile, SODELPA Youth leader Jope Koroisavou says no one should be forced to attend the AGM.

“It is a democracy, you know everyone in the party has been given the freedom of choice I will not comment towards my turaga tau and I will leave it at that.”

The AGM will be held in Savusavu.
