A forty-year-old man who allegedly abducted a 12-year-old girl and raped her in Navua, last month, made his first appearance in the Suva High court this morning.

The man is charged with one count of rape, one count of wrongful confinement and one count of abduction.

It is alleged that he raped the 12-year-old girl on July 21st.

The defence counsel made a bail application and state has been given seven days’ time to respond.

The matter has been adjourned to 16th August.
