Nausori taxi operators not happy

September 24, 2015 6:42 pm

Nausori taxi operators are up in arms claiming they’re losing business with the arrangements at the new Nausori bus station and market.

The facilities have been moved to the Nausori back road – out of the main town centre, while the taxi base remains at the old Nausori bus station.

Speaking on behalf of 144 operators in Nausori town, taxi driver Mohammed Iqbal says they’re not making any money.

“No business here, nothing we getting here because we depend on the bus, our taxi running through the bus, our family depend on the bus business, so we run the taxi from here and there is no supermarket here and no market here, this is number 1 taxi stand, we’re supposed to be beside the bus stand, now we here, yesterday I only $5 for whole day, how are we going to pay our payment and support our family, what’s the use of us staying here”.

The drivers are not pleased with the way the council has handled their situation, saying they’ve been left in the dark.

The Nausori Town Council is under a media blackout and will not be commenting on any matter.
