Nausori business operators raise concerns with Police

July 1, 2015 1:23 am

Members of the business community in Nausori have raised concerns about petty crime in the town.

Nausori Chamber of Commerce president Moti Lal says they discussed their concerns with the Police Commissioner and his team in a ‘talanoa session.’

“This is shoplifting, pick pocketing and snatch and grab which is really disturbing our business in Nausori and we’ve been raising this issue for years with the Police. We have been requesting the presence of the police on the streets or in town. It won’t solve the problem but at least minimize the problem.”

Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu says he is thankful that some business people attended the talanoa session yesterday.

Tudravu adds they are now looking at ways of getting more information about areas that are prone to crime and deploying officers to these areas at particular times of the day and night.
