Natural disasters such as flooding and cyclone have a huge impact on people living in the low-lying and coastal areas as well as those who live in outer islands.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says vulnerable people get displaced, their homes are affected and their lives get disrupted.

The weather condition in the last few days has led to flash flooding in many parts of the country and Sayed-Khaiyum says he is aware of couple of homes and schools that was washed away by landslides.

AG says there’s still some flooding in some parts of the country and thousands of people are in the evacuation centers.
