The National Disaster Management Office has activated all its emergency operation centers around the country.

Leweniqila says as TD03F intensifies, all Fijians should be prepared and should not be carried away with the New Year’s festivities.

“As we go into the New Year tomorrow, we are advising the general public to be cautious of the current weather situation. We are advising parents to ensure that their children refrain from swimming in flooded rivers and drains. This is a normal occurrence during festive season but they must refrain. Also for our mariners in the islands, we are requesting them to exercise caution, as there is also a strong wind warning. They need to be vigilant when they are traveling in the sea.”

Leweniqila says 100 NDMO officers are currently monitoring the weather situation and will work accordingly.

NDMO is also maintaining contacts with RFMF, Police Fire and Correction officers who are currently on standby if the weather deteriorates.
