TD03F expected to intensify and affect Fiji from tomorrow

Tropical Disturbance 03F is expected to intensify further and move towards the Fiji Group and affect the country from tomorrow evening.

The Fiji Meteorological Services reveals that TD03F was analysed at about 1270km northwest of Nadi at 7am today.

Acting Director, Viliame Vereivalu says TD03F is expected to intensify and upgrade into a depression within the next 24 hours.

He says TD03F has a moderate to high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.

A  heavy rain warning remains in force Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group and eastern half of Viti Levu.

Meanwhile, heavy rain alert is now in force for the rest of Fiji.

An active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain lies slow moving over the Fiji group.

Expect occasional showers, heavy at times and few thunderstorms. Showers increasing to rain and becoming heavy from later tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a flood warning remains in force for low lying areas adjacent to and downstream of Naqali station, small streams and low lying area of the Eastern half of Viti Levu

Localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
