TC Ana expected to make landfall around mid-morning

Fiji Meteorological Service Senior Forecaster Samisoni Waqavakatoga says TC Ana is expected to make landfall in Viti Levu around mid-morning today.

He says they’re anticipating the cyclone to make landfall in the Ra Province.

TC Ana has intensified into a category two system and is slowly approaching Viti Levu.

Waqavakatoga says TC Ana was located about 65km south-east of Yasawa-i-Rara or about 95km Northeast of Nadi at 1.30 this morning.

“It is expected to pass through the Central Division around the evening. It should arrive around the Northern parts of Viti Levu around mid-morning and exit Viti Levu from the Navua, Suva and Nausori area around the evening”.

The Weather Office says TC Ana is slowly tracking Southeast at 9km/hr.

Destructive storm force winds can be expected for Viti Levu, western half of Vanua Levu, Lomaiviti group, Vatulele, Beqa, Kadavu and nearby smaller island and the Moala group.

Winds with average speed of 95km/hr and momentary gusts to 130km/hr can be expected as well.
