The Police are advising the public to take heed of precautions and be prepared before it’s too late.

Police Chief of Operation ACP Maretino Qiolevu says this will make work easier for the Emergency Response teams who always risk their lives to save those that do not follow instructions from the Fiji Meteorological Office.

ACP Qiolevu says a team of 30 officers are currently on standby in each division to offer emergency response when the need arises.

He adds they are working closely with NDMO as they monitor Tropical Cyclone Mona.

“We will be taking our queue and our guidance from them as well, so we are on standby should they need assistance from us as per the SOP that we have. Of course, we are going to provide assistance when required.”

ACP Qiolevu says they will also be present in flooded areas to ensure that children do not swim in these areas.
