A team of police officers is currently assisting people at the flooded Toga crossing in Rewa.

The officers are from the Police Special Response Unit and the Eastern Division.

Earlier in the day, village elders and the village headmen were advised of the team’s presence to help ferry people across the flooded crossing.

However, the team is expected to stand down once darkness falls for safety reasons.

Police are advising anyone that wishes to travel must do so before 6pm.

With the Rewa river level still rising, people are urged to call the Eastern Command Center on 9905 563 if they need assistance.
