NDMO reveals no need for an IDA following TC Mona

The National Disaster Management Office has today revealed that Tropical Cyclone Mona did not cause any major impact in any of the four divisions.

NDMO Director, Anare Leweniqila says they’ve stood down all emergency operations and all evacuation centers have been deactivated.

Leweniqila says during in a briefing with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday, it was highlighted that there is no need for an Initial Damage Assessment as no significant damage was reported.

“No report of any incident. No injuries or no damage to any structures but a lot of the reports have indicated that there are no or minimal damage. We will be returning the Navy, the fire, RFMF and then NDMO will be working on a skeleton stuff just to see if there are any other things that have been reported.”

Leweniqila says the Commissioners Eastern and Northern have confirmed there are no reports of major infrastructure or agricultural damage as well.

The NDMO says all operations have resumed as normal including inter-island shipping services to the Lau group.
