With more rain forecast over the next three days, residents in flood prone communities are being advised to move to higher and drier ground.
Acting Director for the Fiji Meteorological Services, Viliame Verevalu says a flood alert remains in force for the country with a trough of low pressure slow moving over the group.
He says given the downpours already experienced, the grounds saturation and vulnerability for those in low lying areas is cause for concern.
“The condition of the soil is already saturated and light rain will cause these places flooded and inundate the low lying areas and especially the small streams. So right at the moment, a flood warning is still in force.”
Fijians in low lying areas are advised to be vigilant and to closely monitor the weather reports.
