Another low pressure system expected to affect Fiji from Sunday

Tropical Depression TD06F was analysed to the east of Lau Group and is moving eastwards further away from Fiji.

A trough of low pressure associated with TD06F currently affects the Group.

Meanwhile, another low-pressure system is anticipated to develop to the far northwest of the Group, move southeast wards and affect the country from Sunday.

This low-pressure system, when it develops has the potential to intensify further into a tropical depression.

For Lau and Lomaiviti group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, eastern parts and interior of Viti Levu, expect occasional showers, becoming frequent and heavy with thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Periods of rain, heavy at times with squally thunderstorms is expected over these areas from Sunday.

Elsewhere, expect fine weather apart from afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

Residents in flood prone communities are advised to regularly monitor the weather reports and take then necessary precautions.
