November 19, 2017 11:47 pm

A national event has been planned to traditionally welcome the COP23 President and his delegation from Bonn, Germany.

Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs, Naipote Katonitabua says it’s always been the norm to celebrate achievements in accordance with the i-Taukei protocol.

Katonitabua says the traditional celebration will be no different as we celebrate a historic moment for Fiji being the first of any small island state to assume the COP23 Presidency.

He adds the celebration will begin with a march on the main street of Suva this Friday followed by a traditional welcoming ceremony at Albert Park.

The public is invited to turn up in numbers and be part of the big day to celebrate one of the national’s many accomplishments.

Close to a hundred delegates was part of the Conference of the Parties to the UN’s convention on Climate Change.
