Employment Minister Jone Usamate says the National Occupational Health and Safety Services will continue to closely monitor any works keeping in mind the safety of the public is paramount.

This comes after the OHS unit last week carried out an inspection of the MHCC complex in regards to issues recently circulated on social media.

Usamate confirms that the inspection was undertaken at all the floor levels of the complex including the ground level and the carpark.

He says the inspection revealed that no structural damage was caused to the holding structures, including the beam, columns and sheer walls.

He notes while it was evident that there was some older cracking in non-structural floor toppings and non-load bearing walls, this was not affecting any structural elements.

The Minister says, based on these site inspections and the technical report from the structural engineers, they have deemed building safe for occupancy and use.
