National Minimum Wage set to increase

The national minimum wage is set to increase in EIGHT months time.

Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations, Jioji Konrote says given Fiji’s FIFTH year of consecutive growth, the indicators to implement an increased national wage are in place.

“Everything looks positive at the moment, you heard the President’s address, you know he certainly mentioned that and as far as I’m concerned as the Minister, we all working towards achieving that goal, yes and I think government is committed into making sure that is done by the 1st July, next year.”

The current national wage sits at TWO dollars and was implemented last year.
