Companies who participated in Fiji’s first National Job Fair managed to not only fill their vacant positions but also sign up potential employees.
The Jacks group of Companies says they have recruited 10 Fijians and accepted several applications which are due for discussion with management.
Fiji Higher Education Commission’s Communications Officer, Epi Rawalai believes this was a great platform for the unemployed.
“It’s interesting to see that not only job seekers are here but those who are already employed are here to see further opportunities. People from all age group came and it was interesting to see parents coming down with their children to the job fair.”
Employment Minister, Parveen Kumar says the feedback from those attending the National Job Fair has been commendable.
“This is the positive way of doing things. This is one way we can reduce unemployment because at the Job Fair we had both potential employers and employees so it is easy to work out things for the people of this country.”
Nelly Gaden from Davuilevu Nausori who had been unemployed over the last four years attended the Job Fair and was successfully hired.
She says it was the answer to her many years of prayers.
