National Disaster Awareness week launches tomorrow

The National Disaster Management Office is taking a pro-active approach as the cyclone season will begin from Thursday.

The NDMO will launch the National Disaster Awareness week at Sukuna Park in Suva tomorrow.

Permanent Secretary, Meleti Bainimarama says all Fijians must take necessary steps now to prepare for the cyclone season.

“So everybody is made aware of the starting of the cyclone season and also made aware on measures that they need to put in place like repairing to the house, clearing of drains, repairing of evacuation centers if there is any in the village or settlement.”

Bainimarama says selected agencies will also demonstrate Early Warning Tsunami system drills during the Disaster Awareness launch tomorrow.
