Dengue has now become an all year round threat to the country and the Health ministry is taking a proactive approach to address the disease.

The Ministry launched the National dengue clean up and awareness campaign in Valelevu, Nasinu yesterday.

Community groups took to the streets to clean drains as part of the week long.

Health Minister Jone Usamate says there is a definite need for cleanup campaign in Valelevu as there a lot of mosquito breeding sites here and close by.

He says Dengue has become a public health threat all year round.

This year the ministry recorded 979 cases.

The national launch is being coordinated nationwide by the divisions, municipalities, provincial administrations, and rural local authorities.
