Nasinu ratepayers receive free bins

September 2, 2014 5:41 am

Thirteen thousands ratepayers of Nasinu have new rubbish bins.

The Nasinu Town Council had asked for help from the Local Government Ministry and funds for the rubbish bins came from a challenge fund set up by the government earlier this year.

Local Government Minister – Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum advised the residents to keep their environment clean.

Sayed-Khaiyum says other municipalities will also benefit through the fund in coming days.

“Some people may make fun of it saying he is the Minister and he is giving out rubbish bins but a rubbish bin and sanitation is very critical. We would like you to please look after this rubbish been because this is an asset. Just because it is given to you free, don’t misuse it and don’t let it be broken in one week.”

The bins cost two hundred and eighty thousand dollars.
