Nasinu man swept into storm drain

The Fiji Police Force is searching for a man who is believed to have been swept away in a storm drain last night.

The man got off a taxi in Laucala Beach Nasinu at around 7.30pm during heavy rain which caused blocked drainage in many parts of Suva and Nasinu.

Police started a search last night, but have so far been unsuccessful.

44 year old Vijay Chandra was returning home from a Christmas party when he was swept away.

His wife Sarun Lata says she waited all night for Chandra to come home – only to be informed of the tragedy this morning.

The search continues.
