The women of Nasigasiga District in Macuata have been encouraged to actively engage in agriculture.
During a recent tour of the Northern Division, Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu highlighted to the women the advantages of participating in agricultural activities.
He emphasised that Government has implemented various agricultural development initiatives targeted specifically for women.
Seruiratu told the women that the role they play in commodity production counts, whether it is through the cottage industry, poultry farming or Virgin Coconut Oil making – are all important.
He adds that through these activities women contribute greatly to food and income security of the nation in particular in Vanua Levu and despite the challenges, they continue to excel.
The Minister also applauded the women on their agricultural achievements and advised them to take advantage of Government’s assistance to develop their ventures.
