Some villages in the lower part of Naitasiri are flooded at the moment.

FBC News journalist, Mika Loga is at Naqali village and files this report.

“Here at Naqali, vehicles are stuck on the roads as the place is still flooded. We can see young boys have made bamboo rafts and going oput on the floodwaters here. Debris is still coming down upriver. At Savu village which is adjacent to Naqali, access there is difficult, we tried tyo go to the village but its been hard, we’ve been told some roofs of houses there were blown off. Naqali school floodwaters have gone right up to the last house, water levels are rising and its moved about a foot from where it was last. As we wait for a boat to come and take us to where Naqali village and bridge is, we haev been told some houses are flooded while some young boys are swimming with the water chest high. The weather is fine though, it’s hot and its just a matter of seeing what will happen with the water.”
