Nanny gives evidence in alleged rape case

A Nanny took the stand today and gave evidence in relation to a case whereby a man is alleged to have raped his de-facto partner’s four-year old adopted daughter.

The man who is charged with two counts of rape is alleged to have committed the offense on 16th March in Navua.

The Nanny informed the court that she had been looking after the victim for almost two years.

She also informed the court that on the day the alleged incident took place she had put the four-year-old to bed and left the house around 5pm.

She says when she left the house the accused was watching television while another man who used to stay together with the victim and her mother was out in the pool.

The victim’s mother was at work at the time of the alleged incident.

The Nanny in cross examination said that the victim’s mother called her after 7.30pm and questioned her about the alleged incident.

The Nanny said that the victim’s mother called her and told her that the accused has molested the four-year-old.

She also said that the next day when she went to work, the four-year-old girl told her that the accused molested her.

The trial continues in High Court.
