Naitasiri residents told to change mindset

Residents of Waimaro in the highlands of Naitasiri have been challenged to change their mindset about how they should live.

I-Taukei Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary, Savenaca Kaunisela issued this message during a public consultation at Nabukaluka Village yesterday.

“Whatever other people of other ethnic groups in Fiji can do, we the itaukei people can also do it too. We have the resources, we have the manpower we have the land we have the capability which Im sure that if we put our heads together and plan well only then can we rise above the rest or be the same as the other multiethnic groups.”

Kaunisela says iTaukei’s should not just sit back and watch the society change.

The PS adding that there are plans to hold public consultations in other remote parts of the country.
