Nagado water treatment plant repairs underway

The repair work on the leaking Vanessa Valve in the Nagado treatment plant is underway.

WAF Board Director Kamal Gounder says their staff and contractor, Elisha Engineering are working closely to get the valve repaired.

Kumar says the repair work is on schedule and it’s expected to be completed tomorrow.

He adds after the repair work – reservoirs will be filled with water that will take two to three days.

The Authority has also received reports on the damaging of tanks in Waiyavi, Bulileka, Kaunitoni and Sukanaivalu Roads in Lautoka.

He says they have reported the matter to Police and will be working closely together in regards to this serious issue.

Meanwhile, the National Control Centre in Namaka, Nadi is now activated with their toll-free number 1507.

He says WAF has been receiving a lot of calls from people requesting for water carting.

WAF Board members Hemant Kumar, Kamal Gounder and Chief Operating Officer, Samanmal Ekanayake visited the site this morning.
