Nadi man charged with aggravated robbery denied bail

A man who is alleged to have been involved in a robbery outside the ANZ Namaka branch appeared today at the Nadi Magistrates Court.

The robbery took place over the weekend.

Akshay Nawal Raju who is currently charged with one count of aggravated robbery was allegedly the driver of a getaway car following the robbing of a woman in her 60s.

The woman was alleged to have been carrying more than $15,000 in cash.

Raju was also refused bail by the Magistrate after he was found to have a criminal case pending before the Nadi Magistrate Court and was convicted of theft in 2014 by the Lautoka Magistrates Court.

The case has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court.

Raju is expected to front court again on March 6th.
