Nadi holds interfaith prayer for Christchurch victims
Vigils and prayers for victims and the grieving families of the Christchurch tragedy continue around the country.
In Namaka, many gathered for an interfaith prayer held at the Nadi Airport Mosque last night.
Nasareci Methodist Church pastor, Reverend Tomasi Daunakamakama says it was an unfortunate event that caused devastation not only in New Zealand and Fiji but around the world.
Reverend Daunakamakama says this is a time when Fijians should unite and be supportive.
“So we have to embrace love and community support and especially bombard hatred against each and everyone living in peace and harmony.”
Mufti Zain ul Abidean says they need to be strong for families of the victim during this difficult period and continue to pray for those still fighting for their lives and those that are recovering in hospital.
“We are here to say that we are one, we are united, not afraid and that we are also with the family. It’s also high time now that we need to speak against hatred and hate speeches.”
Mufti Zain adds it’s been a difficult time as Fijians were also involved but has acknowledged the support shown towards the Muslim Community.

The Momo na Tui Nadi was also part of the service last night showing Nadi’s support and the Mufti says they’re very grateful for this.
