Nadi businesses fined for dumping rubbish

April 12, 2012 5:25 am

Three business houses in Nadi have been fined for inappropriately dumping their rubbish on the main street.

They copped a $40 fine each.

Nadi Town Council chief executive Nemia Tagi says this should give a lesson to other business as such acts is only hindering their efforts to clean the town.

“Business houses in Nadi are taking time in cleaning up their premises. We are continuously cleaning-up after them as they are not consistent with their clean-up and they just tend to dump their rubbish outside their shops. This has been hard for us as we have to clean up again but our Law Enforcers are out to issue them spot fines which are in line with the Local Government Act.”

Tagi says the council is still working with authorities in clearing the debris from Prince Charles Park to the Lautoka land-fill.
