September 13, 2018 4:59 am

The farming community in Nabekavu outside Labasa are now rationing their water supply as water carted to them barely lasts a week.

Resident, Saraswati Chand told FBC News, it’s been a month since their wells and rivers have dried up as a result of the prolonged dry spell.

Over ten households live in the farming community and they have been receiving water from the Water Authority.

According to Chand, she gets water once a week and most times, it does not last the whole week.

She says at the moment, their priority is getting drinking water.

Chand adds, this is one of the worst dry spells they have come across.

The family has requested for additional water tanks for their home and farm.
