Muslims across the country are celebrating the Feast of Sacrifice known as Bakra Eid today.
The day is commemorated with the sacrifice of animals like goats or sheep and prayers at the mosque.
Fiji Muslim league priest Abdul Waris says Bakra Eid is the second religious festival celebrated by Muslims around the world annually.
‘’In Fiji, today is the first day for the sacrifice in fiji for the Fiji Muslim so all of us first of all we already prayed for eid namaz , eid salaat in the place where it is done, the mosque’’.
Families retain one third of the share of the sacrificed animal.
Another third is given to relatives, friends and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.
