Muslims in Fiji and around the world celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr today.
Fiji Muslim League president Hafizud Dean Khan says Eid is the most widely celebrated festival and it falls on the first day of Shawaal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.
It marks the end of the fasting in the month of Ramadan.

Khan says the importance of fasting is experiencing hunger and developing compassion for the less fortunate.
After Eid, people take time out to exchange gifts, spend time socializing with extended family and community.
The most common delicacy during Eid is “sewai”.
