A murder suspect who’d been on the run for 7 years has been arrested and will be produced in court today.
Imshad Izraal Ali allegedly murdered of his partner in 2009 at their Howell Road home in Suva.
Ali was initially charged with murder, but was given leave by the court to seek medical treatment overseas.
However, he then absconded and is believed to have been living in India since 2009.
Ali’s case was dismissed by the court due to the inability to execute a long standing search warrant.
However, the Fiji Police Force through the partnership between the Indian Government as well as INTERPOL, was able to arrest the accused.
Ali was arrested and escorted back to Suva by a senior officer of the Fiji Police Force.
He will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.
